General Information: Uses and Effects
Raniclor Generic belongs to a group of cephalosporin antibiotics. It was developed under the trade name Ceclor by Eli Lilly. Cephalosporins are broad-range antibiotics that are used to treat bacterial infections like skin infections, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, otitis, and others.
Also, Raniclor is most effective against strains of the following microorganisms, both in clinical infections and in-vitro: Staphylococcus, Streptococcus pathogens, and Streptococcus pneumonia.
Besides, this pill affects the growth of the strains above of micro-organisms. It inhibits their virulence and enables the phagocytes or white blood cells to engulf them. Cefaclor is active against both grams positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Although, Raniclor has a full range effect on most bacterial infections, it is not the ultimate cure. It is not effective for curing diseases of the central nervous system, e.g., meningitis. This is because Cephalosporins cannot effectively penetrate the cerebral spinal fluid unless the meningitis is inflamed.
Contraindication: Important to know
Contraindications in drugs are much more common than most people realize, and Cefaclor is not an exception. Just like most antibiotics, this medicine contains components that might trigger allergies in those who are already sensitive to Cephalosporins.
So, remember to consult your doctor before taking Cefaclor or similar antibiotics like Fortaz, Keflex, Ceftin, Cefzil, Omnicef, Spectrasonics, Duricef, Suprax, and others. Furthermore, remember to consult your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin.
Manufacturers instruction also points to a possible contraindication that might cause renal impairment. Additionally, Raniclor has been reported to cause serum-like reactions in kids below 12 years old.
In order to experience a reduction in the symptoms of the bacterial infection, it is advised to use this drug for the entire period prescribed by the doctor. Avoid taking antacids about one hour before using this medication. Antacids make it harder for the body to absorb Cefaclor.
Also, pregnant woman or nursing mother should consult a physician before using this drug to avoid any complications in the health of the unborn child or newborn. Lastly, just like all antibiotic drug, Raniclor may cause diarrhea. This is usually an indication of a new infection. It's advisable to consult a doctor if the diarrhea is watery or contains blood. Mind you, don't use any medicament to treat diarrhea unless your physician advised you to.
